The Irish Martial Arts Commission was established in 1990. It is recognised by the Irish Sports Council as a National Governing Body of Sport for Martial Arts in the Republic of Ireland.
National Governing Bodies
Each Martial Art discipline within IMAC looks after it's own affairs through their respective Advisory Board (IMAC National Governing Body).
The Executive Committee of IMAC is made up of two nominated representatives from each of the currently recognised Arts; Aikido, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Kendo, Kickboxing, Kung-Fu, TaeKwon-Do, Ninjutsu, Sambo, Tai Chi and Muay Thai. The IMAC Executive Committee and several appointed sub-committees oversee the development of Coaching programmes, Child Protection policy, Garda Vetting procedures, Anti-Doping and Membership registration.
